CardCatalog is a thoughtfully designed reading app created by a professional librarian to help readers discover, organize, and engage with books. In a landscape dominated by algorithms and sponsored recommendations, CardCatalog offers a hand-curated alternative for book recommendations built by readers for readers.
The Design
In mid 2025, I began work on designing the brand and app assets for CardCatalog: Reading Companion. Inspired by a 70s library, the design emphasizes the vintage, hands-on feel of using a card catalog to find the book you need! Warm tones and off-whites mixed with a clean sans-serif type elevate the look while still letting the user reminisce on a pre-digital design.
